Swedish Musician, Producer, and Multi-Instrumentalist born 1966, in Skovde, Sweden, Tim Skold is a versatile musician and producer renowned for his contributions to industrial rock, metal, and electro-industrial genres. His career began in the late 1980s with Swedish hard rock band Shotgun Messiah. In 1996, he launched his solo project with the self-titled album Skold on RCA Records, which featured tracks like “Chaos” and “Hail Mary” that gained exposure in films and video games.
Skold’s talents caught the attention of industrial music pioneers KMFDM, leading to his involvement in their 1997 album Symbols, Adios (1999) and Attak (2002) with a brief return in 2009 for the album Blitz. He also co-founded MDFMK with KMFDM’s Sascha Konietzko, releasing a self-titled album in 2000.
In 2002, Skold joined Marilyn Manson, producing, writing and performing on the #1 Billboard Album Chart The Golden Age of Grotesque (2003) and Eat Me, Drink Me (2007) as well as the Singles Tainted Love and Personal Jesus.
After departing from Manson in 2008, Skold continued his solo career with albums like Anomie (2011), The Undoing (2016), Never Is Now (2019), and Dies Irae (2021), each showcasing his evolving sound and production skills. Notably, he produced and co-wrote for Motionless In White’s albums Infamous (2012) and Reincarnate (2014), both achieving significant chart
success.
In 2024, Skold collaborated with Los Angeles-based alt-rock band Love Ghost on the album Love Ghost x Skold, blending emo-tinged nu-metal with contemporary hip-hop and alt-rock influences. The album explores themes of personal introspection, the afterlife, witchcraft, and more combined with Skold’s distinctive style and genre-blending production approach.
